I have a passion for travel and I've recently started to take pictures to complement my travels. I have visited Spain, Moroccco, France, Germany, Macau, Hong Kong, and Thailand. I lived in Spain for a short time, though I think of it more as an extended vacation. I lived in Kobe, Japan for a year in 2004. After getting married I returned to Japan with my husband. My husband, Anthony Sawtelle, and I lived in Tokyo, Japan for about a year and a half. We returned to my hometown, Austin, TX in early March of 2009... and now we're headed back to Tokyo in August 2010.
I love documentary/photojournalistic/street photography (My lastest inspiration: Fritz Henle...he's awesome!). I'm still trying to develop a "photographic style" of my own, but I guess that just comes with years of experience. I threw caution to the wind and dropped out of the master's in accounting program I was attending and started my own wedding and portrait photography business. I'm always soaking up all the photography knowledge I come across! I love to take classes and have been continuing my education at Austin Community College which has an excellent photography program. On any given day you can pretty much always find me with my head buried in the computer or in a book reading about something that has to do with photography...
While in Tokyo I was fortunate enough to meet some talented photographers both amateurs and professionals, including my photography teacher Alfie Goodrich.
